Mr. McAngus has concentrated his practice in the area of workers' compensation law for more than thirty years. Today his practice focuses on defending complex workers’ compensation, catastrophic loss, toxic exposure, mediation and occupational disease claims.
Mr. McAngus graduated from the University of the South in 1972, and received his Juris Doctor in 1976 from the University of South Carolina School of Law. He is a certified mediator. Mr. McAngus is actively involved in the development of workers’ compensation law on both a national and state level and is the Past President of the South Carolina Defense Trial Attorneys’ Association and former Secretary of the Defense Research Institute’s Committee on State and Local Defense Organizations. Mr. McAngus is a past member of the South Carolina Workers’ Compensation Legislative Study Committee. He also serves on the Board of Directors of the South Carolina Self-Insurers Association and is currently President of that organization. Mr. McAngus frequently lectures to various organizations on matters related to workers’ compensation law. He is a member of the South Carolina and American Bar Associations, the South Carolina Defense Trial Attorneys’ Association, the Defense Research Institute, and the South Carolina Workers’ Compensation Educational Association. Mr. McAngus is named in The Best Lawyers in America.
