Mr. Scurfield's practice is focused on the defense of civil litigation in the state and federal courts of eastern and central North Carolina, from pre-suit mediation through jury trials. He has experience in a range of matters including motor vehicle accident cases (including those involving punitive damages claims), premises liability claims ("slip and fall" and other homeowner and commercial landowner liability cases), commercial disputes involving claims of breach of contract, negligence, and Unfair and Deceptive Trade Practices, multi-party construction defect claims (residential and commercial) for general contractors and subcontractors, and product liability claims.
Mr. Scurfield earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1985 and a Juris Doctor degree in 1988 from the University of Pittsburgh. He practiced in western Pennsylvania for twelve years before relocating to North Carolina in 2000 and joining McAngus Goudelock & Courie in 2006. Mr. Scurfield is admitted to practice in the state and federal courts of North Carolina and Pennsylvania. He is a member of the North Carolina and Wake County Bar Associations, the North Carolina Association of Defense Attorneys, and the Defense Research Institute.
