Mr. Tiencken’s areas of practice include utility, environmental and corporate law.
He attended the College of Charleston, the University of South Carolina School of Law, and Emory University. For the last two years he has been an adjunct professor in the Citadel MBA program. Mr. Tiencken has served as the Berkeley County S.C. Attorney, the General Counsel of the South Carolina Public Service Authority (Santee Cooper) and President (2000-2004) of the Authority. He has served as a board member of the Palmetto Economic Development Corporation, The Energy Authority (Jacksonville Fla.), and has been the Chairman of the American Public Power Association Legal Section. Mr. Tiencken has been involved in numerous civic organizations, having served as the Chairman of the Coastal Community Foundation, the Berkeley County Historical Society, and the Palmetto Conservation Foundation, and acted as the Campaign Chair for the Trident United Way Annual Campaign in 2002. Currently he is President of the Lord Berkeley Land Trust, and a board member of the Lowcountry American Red Cross, the Bunnelle Foundation, the Palmetto Conservation Foundation, the South Carolina Trust for Public Land, The South Carolina Chamber of Commerce and advisory board member to the Donnelly Foundation.
