Ms. Jenkins chairs the firm's employment law practice group. Her practice focuses on employment law and she is licensed and practices in both South Carolina and North Carolina. She is certified by the South Carolina Supreme Court as a specialist in labor and employment law. Ms. Jenkins is also a certified mediator. She handles all aspects of employment law including litigation pending in federal and state courts, and claims pending with state and federal agencies including the EEOC.
Ms. Jenkins has extensive experience in drafting and evaluating policies, handbooks, and contracts, and she regularly conducts training for clients which includes anti-harassment training. She helps employers conduct internal compliance audits and routinely counsels clients in matters related to hiring, terminations, wage and hour issues, FLSA, harassment, discrimination and retaliation under Title VII, the ADA, the ADEA, FMLA, ADA accommodations, wrongful discharge, ERISA, non-compete agreements, trade secrets, and other issues.
She graduated magna cum laude from the University of New Hampshire Honors Program in 1989, and received a Juris Doctor from the University of Virginia School of Law in 1993. Ms. Jenkins is admitted to practice before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 4th Circuit, the U.S. District Court for the District of South Carolina, and the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern, Middle, and Western Districts of North Carolina. She is a member of the American Bar Association, South Carolina Bar Association, Charleston County Bar Association, North Carolina Bar Association, North Carolina State Bar, and Defense Research Institute.
Ms. Jenkins was selected for inclusion in the 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010 editions of The Best Lawyers in America for employment law and was recognized in the 2008, 2009 and 2010 listings of South Carolina Super Lawyers. She served as President of the Rotary Club of Charleston from 2006-2007, and she was selected as one of the “Forty Under 40” by the Charleston Regional Business Journal in 2005. Additionally, Ms. Jenkins co-authored the chapter on the Fair Labor Standards Act in Labor and Employment Law for South Carolina Lawyers, a publication of the South Carolina Bar.
