Mr. Barringer’s practice focuses on general liability litigation with an emphasis on representing insurance carriers and insured persons and companies in civil litigation. Mr. Barringer has an extensive practice and expertise in the area of insurance coverage analysis and litigation. Practice areas include coverage and bad faith litigation, defense of personal injury torts as well as defense of product liability, premises liability, construction defect and condemnation matters. He is also a certified mediator and is active in the field of alternative dispute resolution.
Mr. Barringer graduated cum laude from the University of North Carolina Charlotte in 1983 with a bachelor’s degree in history. He received his law degree from the J. Reuben Clark Law School at Brigham Young University in 1986, where he was a member of the National Moot Court team, Order of the Barristers and a member of Phi Delta Phi.
Following law school, Mr. Barringer worked at a prominent San Francisco Bay area insurance coverage litigation firm. He is a member of the Contra Costa County and California State Bars. He returned home to his native North Carolina in 1990 and is a member of the North Carolina Bar Association and the Mecklenburg County Bar Association. Mr. Barringer is married and the father of four children. He is active in his church and has continues to be involved as a volunteer in various community activities including scouting, coaching and mentoring. He was recognized by North Carolina Super Lawyers magazine in 2011 and 2012.
