Dominic A. Starr's practice focuses on the areas of business and tort litigation and product liability defense.
Mr. Starr has tried numerous cases to jury verdict in state and federal courts. His trial work includes defense of insurance carriers and their insureds, telecommunications companies, skilled nursing and assisted living facilities, automobile manufacturers, pharmacy chains, transportation companies, and heavy equipment operators. Mr. Starr successfully defended an automobile manufacturer in statewide class action litigation in South Carolina. Mr. Starr also has a successful appellate practice. He has appeared before the South Carolina Supreme Court and Court of Appeals in representation of both petitioners and respondents.
A member of the South Carolina Bar, Mr. Starr is admitted to practice before the 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals and the U.S. District Court for the District of South Carolina. He has received pro hac vice admissions in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Georgia, Alabama, and Kentucky. He is also a member of the Defense Research Institute, the South Carolina Defense Trial Attorneys’ Association, and the Horry County Bar Association. He served a two-year term as a member of the South Carolina Resolution of Fee Disputes Board. Mr. Starr is a past president of the Myrtle Beach Sunrise Rotary Club.
Mr. Starr earned a Juris Doctor in 1993 from Emory University School of Law where he was a member of the Order of Barristers and served on the board of directors for Emory’s Moot Court Society. He received an American Jurisprudence Award in Civil Litigation. Mr. Starr earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, cum laude, from the University of Pennsylvania in 1990.
