McAngus Goudelock & Courie is pleased to announce that South Carolina Lawyers Weekly will honor Rusty Goudelock and Dominic Starr with the 2012 Leadership in Law Award at a reception in Charleston on March 15. The award recognizes individuals in the legal community who are working to better the legal profession through mentoring and involvement in their communities as well as going above and beyond in their everyday jobs.
Mr. Goudelock is a founding member of MG&C and practices in the areas of workers’ compensation and employment law in the firm’s Columbia office. He regularly lectures before various organizations on issues related to workers’ compensation and employment law and frequently appears before the South Carolina Workers’ Compensation Commission and in state courts representing employers, self-insureds and insurance carriers. Mr. Goudelock is one of the South Carolina attorneys practicing workers’ compensation law named in The Best Lawyers in America and is also listed in South Carolina Super Lawyers. Mr. Goudelock has served as president of the S.C. Workers’ Compensation Educational Association. Additionally, he served as treasurer and board member for Kids’ Chance of South Carolina, a non-profit organization that awards scholarships to children of injured workers.
Mr. Starr is a member of the firm and practices in MG&C’s Myrtle Beach office. His practice focuses on the areas of business and tort litigation and product liability defense, including defense of insurance carriers and insureds, telecommunications companies, skilled nursing and assisted living facilities, automobile manufacturers, pharmacy chains, transportation companies, and heavy equipment operators. He served a two-year term as a member of the South Carolina Resolution of Fee Disputes Board. Mr. Starr is a past president of the Myrtle Beach Sunrise Rotary Club. He is the head coach of the Carolina Forest Community Center’s Senior Division little league softball team, which won the S.C. state championship in 2011. He is also an assistant coach for the Carolina Lightning Travel Softball Team and is the attorney coach for Ocean Bay Middle School’s Mock Trial team since 2010.
