For more than two decades, Adam Whitten has represented employers, insurers and national corporations in workers’ compensation matters throughout North Carolina. Adam’s practice spans a broad range of industries, including long‑term care, financial services, construction, security, transportation, restaurant, retail, telecommunications, aviation, staffing and manufacturing. He has handled cases at every level of the North Carolina workers’ compensation system and has successfully defended cases through the appellate process with the Full Commission, the North Carolina Court of Appeals and the North Carolina Supreme Court. In addition, Adam has also represented clients in civil disputes involving negligence, premises liability and third‑party lien issues, and has defended employers in matters before the North Carolina Department of Labor and the EEOC.
Adam is an active member of the legal community and frequently speaks to adjusters, human resources professionals, risk managers and fellow attorneys on topics such as occupational disease, disability, return‑to‑work strategies, communication with medical providers and best practices working with the North Carolina Industrial Commission.
Beyond his legal practice, Adam has served on the board of a local youth sports organization, as well as coached with the YMCA, local recreational programs and national travel sports programs. He is currently the head coach of a high school JV softball team, and teaches a early-morning scripture study class to high school students. Adam has also volunteered extensively with the Boy Scouts of America. He is fluent in Portuguese, a skill he developed during his two years living in southern Brazil as a missionary for his church. Adam is also a proud father of five children and three dogs. "There is never a dull moment at home with that crowd!" he adds.
