Derek Gehring’s practice focuses on workers’ compensation matters where he represents insurance companies in claims throughout North Carolina. Prior to joining MGC, Derek practiced workers’ compensation and civil litigation with several firms. He also gained broader civil litigation experience with a firm specializing in business law, commercial litigation and arbitration. This background allows Derek to evaluate claims efficiently while balancing legal strategy with the practical needs of insurers navigating the workers’ compensation system.

In his personal time, Derek is an avid Chicago Bears and Chicago Cubs fan. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his wife, Yawei, their daughter, Charlotte and their dogs, Patience and Ivy.
