GREENVILLE, SC – MGC Greenville attorney Mark Allison was elected President of the South Carolina Defense Trial Attorneys’ Association (SCDTAA). The SCDTAA's mission is to promote justice, professionalism and integrity in the civil justice system by bringing together attorneys of South Carolina dedicated to the defense of civil actions.
Mark Allison’s practice focuses on workers’ compensation defense. He regularly speaks at seminars and conferences on matters related to workers’ compensation law. Allison earned a Juris Doctor from the University of South Carolina School of Law and Bachelor of Arts from Erskine College. He is a member of the Greenville County Bar Association, South Carolina Bar Association, South Carolina Workers' Compensation Educational Association and Stanford E. Lacy Workers’ Compensation American Inn of Court. Allison has been recognized by The Best Lawyers in America© since 2016, and has previously been named in Greenville Business Magazine’s Legal Elite of the Upstate, for his workers’ compensation practice.
The South Carolina Defense Trial Attorneys’ Association was formally organized in 1968 after a series of discussions with insurance and industry representatives about the need for an organized Defense Bar. A local association of defense attorneys was needed to act as a liaison between the DRI and local claims managers. The SCDTAA brings together by association, communication and organization, lawyers of South Carolina who devote a substantial amount of their professional time to the handling of litigated cases and whose representation in such cases is primarily for the defense.
