McAngus Goudelock & Courie, a regional insurance defense firm, is pleased to announce the addition of David Coleman, Elizabeth Franks and Ben Simpson to two of the firm’s North Carolina offices.
Coleman's practice focuses on litigation in the firm’s Raleigh office. He earned his juris doctor from University of Virginia School of Law and holds a bachelor of arts from Virginia Military Institute. Coleman is a member of the North Carolina Bar Association. Prior to joining MGC, David practiced insurance defense and commercial litigation in Raleigh, and most recently served in the US Army as a Judge Advocate and Special Assistant US Attorney, assigned to the US Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of North Carolina.
Franks’ practice focuses on litigation in the firm’s Asheville office. Franks earned her juris doctor from University of Dayton School of Law and holds a bachelor of arts from the University of Miami. She is a member of the North Carolina Bar Association, American Bar Association, Federal Bar Association, North Carolina Bar Association of Defense Attorneys, North Carolina Bar Association of Women Attorneys and 28th Judicial District Bar. Franks also serves on the Board of Directors for Homeward Bound of Western North Carolina and the Steering Committee for Highlands Circles, and is the Pro Bono Committee Chair for the United Way of Asheville and Buncombe County. She was included in the 2014 Greater Asheville Area’s 40 Under Forty. Prior to joining MGC, Liz worked at the U.S. Attorney’s Office, clerked for Judge Max O. Cogburn, Jr. of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of North Carolina, and practiced at an Asheville area law firm.
Simpson's practices worker’s compensation in MGC’s Raleigh office. Simpson earned his juris doctor from Loyola University in New Orleans. He also holds an MBA from Loyola University and a bachelor of arts from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Simpson is a member of the North Carolina Bar Association and the Wake County Bar Association. Prior to joining MGC, Simpson practiced law in Durham.
