COLUMBIA, SC – MGC Founding Member Jay Courie has been chosen as a recipient of SCBIZ’s inaugural South Carolina 500 recognition. This honor recognizes the state’s 500 most powerful leaders in business, nonprofits, government and higher education.
Jay Courie is a Founding Member and the Managing Member of MGC. As Managing Member, Jay devotes much of his time and energy to the evolving business of law. He is a frequent speaker on Law Firm Management topics including metrics, growth, governance, alternative fees and strategic planning.
Jay also leads a dedicated team of lawyers and professionals at MGC Sports, representing both coaches and players in team negotiations, endorsement opportunities and NCAA matters. He is an NFL Players Association certified agent, as well as a member of the Sports Lawyers Association.
Courie earned a Juris Doctor from the University of South Carolina School of Law and a Bachelor of Science from Francis Marion University, where he graduated magna cum laude. He is a member of the Clemson University Second Century Society, Columbia Downtown Business Association, DRI—previously serving as the organization’s South Carolina State Representative and Chair of the Law Practice Management Committee—International Association of Defense Counsel, South Carolina Bar Association, South Carolina Defense Trial Attorney’s Association—previously serving as the organization’s President—Sports Lawyers Association and University Associates.
