It is with deep sadness that we inform you of the passing of our admired colleague, Tom Sippel. Tom was a dedicated attorney who brought nearly 30 years of legal and industry experience to our firm. He joined us to help open our Atlanta office in 2016 and served as a Member of the firm. Tom's contributions have left an indelible mark on our practice and the lives of those he served.
Tom’s career was distinguished by his unwavering commitment to excellence and his profound impact on the legal community. He earned his Juris Doctor from Mercer University Walther F. George School of Law and his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Georgia. He was admitted to the bar in multiple jurisdictions, including Tennessee, Washington, DC and Georgia, and he represented clients in various courts, including the US District Courts for Georgia, Tennessee and Maryland.
Throughout his career, Tom was celebrated for his exceptional skills and dedication. He was recognized by Atlanta Super Lawyers for Civil Litigation Defense practice in 2013 and received numerous awards, including the State Bar of Georgia Pro Bono Project Award and the Macon Bar Association Eleemosynary Award. Tom was also a Fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America Trial Lawyer Honor Society and held a Martindale-Hubbell® Peer Review Rating™ of AV®.
Beyond his professional achievements, Tom was deeply involved in the community. He served on the boards of the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce and the Bachman Community Center, and he was a member of several professional organizations, including the Atlanta Claims Association, Defense Research Institute, Georgia Defense Lawyers Association and Risk Insurance Management Society.
Tom’s personal life was equally fulfilling. He was married to his wife, Lisa, for over 20 years, and together they shared twin girls. Those who knew Tom knew of his gift for storytelling, as well as his love for the Georgia Bulldogs, the game of golf, gardening, the beach, fireworks, his many dogs and, above all, his family.
Tom’s legacy will live on through the countless lives he touched and the profound impact he had on our firm and the legal community. We extend our deepest condolences to his family and friends during this difficult time.
