McAngus Goudelock & Courie, a regional insurance defense firm, is pleased to announce the addition of Melissa Cleary to the firm’s Raleigh office. Cleary’s practice focuses on workers’ compensation and employment law.

Cleary received a juris doctor from the University of North Carolina and graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor of arts degree from Saint Mary’s College. She is a member of the North Carolina Association of Defense Attorneys, North Carolina State Bar, North Carolina Bar Association, Wake County Bar Association, CLM and has served on the Board of the National Workers’ Compensation Defense Network. Cleary was the first female defense attorney in North Carolina to be inducted into the College of Workers’ Compensation Lawyers. She has been included in the North Carolina Super Lawyers “Rising Star” list (2009-2010) and The Best Lawyers in America (2013-2016). Cleary was named a Fellow in the Litigation Counsel of America in 2009, and holds an AV rating with Martindale-Hubbell.
