Earlier this month, a Richland County, South Carolina jury returned a defense verdict for MGC’s client after a three-day trial. The case was a premises liability matter in which Plaintiff brought claims of negligence, claiming that MGC’s client breached their contract and duties pertaining to the parking lot where the incident took place. MGC’s client disputed the allegations of negligence and fault while acknowledging that Plaintiff had suffered a serious injury that required multiple surgeries.
The Plaintiff requested $1.5 million in damages for the Defendant’s alleged negligence; however, the jury found Plaintiff did not meet his burden of proof and found for the Defendant on the issue of liability, resulting in a full defense verdict.
The case was defended by MGC Columbia attorneys Adam Ribock and Lillian Lawrence. After the verdict, Judge Jocelyn Newman denied post-trial motions made by the Plaintiff.
