MGC attorney Adam Ribock secured a complete defense verdict in Clarendon County, South Carolina, following a four-day jury trial arising from a premises liability lawsuit in which plaintiff sought millions in recovery. The plaintiff alleged they suffered significant injuries after slipping and falling on a greasy substance at a restaurant. Their spouse also asserted a loss of consortium claim arising from the alleged injuries
The plaintiffs sought approximately $6,000,000 in damages, relying on $184,270 in past medical expenses and a life care plan exceeding $2,000,000 to support their claims. They contended that the fall caused ongoing pain and impairment resulting in substantial future damages. Through expert testimony and other evidence presented at trial, MGC demonstrated that the plaintiff's claimed pain and future medical needs were not attributable to the subject fall.
After four days of testimony and evidence, the jury returned a complete defense verdict, finding that the plaintiffs failed to establish that the restaurant incident was the proximate cause of the claimed injuries and damages.
