COLUMBIA, SC – Law firm McAngus Goudelock & Courie (MGC) is pleased to announce the six recipients of the 2025 MGC Law Student Scholarship, a program in its fifth year providing law students with access to opportunities that will aid in their development as legal professionals. The program awarded a $2,500 scholarship to each recipient for the 2025-2026 academic year.
"MGC is pleased to extend the Law Student Scholarship into its fifth year. The firm’s recognition of these talented students reflects our commitment to ensuring diversity of experience, thought and background is at the forefront of MGC, as well as the legal community,” says MGC managing member Jay Courie. “Based on our previous years' success we have expanded our program to recognize six scholarship recipients. It is with great enthusiasm that I congratulate our 2025 recipients."
“Every year, our firm grants scholarships to outstanding law students, and each time, I find myself so encouraged by the accomplishments and dedication to excellence of the applicants,” says Belong @ MGC chair Lynn Olmert. “Evaluating the applications and hearing their stories fills me with optimism and hope. It’s a privilege to be involved in their legal journeys and to provide financial assistance and sometimes advice along the way. We receive an increasing number of applications every year, which makes the selection process challenging. I must admit this is a good problem! I am so proud of each of our winners and cannot wait to see how they continue to raise the bar for our profession.”
The 2025 recipients are as follows:
Shannon Berry, JD Candidate | Texas Southern University Thurgood Marshall School of Law
Trystan Edwards, JD Candidate | Benjamin N. Cardozo Law School
Jalah Falcher, JD Candidate | Georgia State University College of Law
