Stevens earned a Juris Doctor from the University of South Carolina School of Law, graduating cum laude, and a Bachelor of Science from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. While studying at the University of South Carolina, he was the articles editor of Volume 74 of the South Carolina Law Review and interned with the Honorable Sherri A. Lydon of the United States District Court for the District of South Carolina.
