McAngus Goudelock & Courie, a regional insurance defense firm, is pleased to announce the addition of Walt Rapp to the firm’s Wilmington office. Rapp expands MGC’s litigation practice to the firm’s Wilmington office, which opened in Dec. 2014.

Rapp’s practice focuses on litigation, particularly in civil, commercial and construction litigation. He handles cases related to construction defect, real estate, maritime claims, motor vehicle negligence, premises liability and contract disputes. He has practiced insurance defense in the Wilmington area since 2003, representing a variety of clients, including contractors, subcontractors, real estate agents, and design professionals.  Walt also serves as corporate counsel for several local builders and business owners, providing them assistance with contracts, risk transfer, collections and other business related matters.

Rapp earned his juris doctor from Wake Forest University and his bachelor of arts from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He is a member of the North Carolina State Bar, North Carolina Bar Association, New Hanover County Bar Association, Defense Research Institute and North Carolina Association of Defense Attorneys, where he serves as the Chair of the Construction Practice Group. Rapp also serves on the Advisory Council for Cape Fear Habitat for Humanity. He holds an AV rating from Martindale-Hubbell, and was listed in the 2015 edition of Business North Carolina’s Legal Elite list for Construction Litigation and the 2016 edition of The Best Lawyers in America for Litigation – Insurance.
